Fork Project
When you fork a project, you’re creating your own copy of that project, including its history and visibility settings. This page shows you how to fork a project on WVS by using the WVS Web Client.
Fork a Project
You can fork any public project. A forked project lets you make changes without affecting the original project that it’s forked from.
- Go to the Community Projects page.
- Click the name of the project to fork.
-
You are taken to the Fork project page.
- Change the Project name to something new.
- Select a namespace for the Project URL.
- Optional: You can Create a group and use that as a namespace. Creating a group lets you house several dependent projects under the same namespace.
- Enter a Project slug. The namespace and slug make up the URL of your project. The URL will be in this format:
- Fill in a Project description (optional).
- Choose a Visibility Level. There are three options:
- Private - Project access must be granted to each user or member of the group the project is a part of.
- Internal - Any signed-in user can access the project.
- Public - The project is accessible without any authentication.
- Click Fork project or Cancel.
- If you choose to fork and it’s successful, you will get this message:
The project was successfully forked.
